DILI: Timor-Leste’s national electricity company (EDTL) has run up a $15.5 million fuel debt as it waits for State budget clearance.

Virgílio Guterres, the General Director of EDTL, said state funds to pay fuel providers at CNI22, WARSILA, ETO and SACOM power plants had not been approved by National Parliament.

He said EDTL had enough money to cover operational costs, but could not meet growing fuel bill.
