Dr Sergio Lobo, spokesperson for the Integrated Crisis Management Centre (CIGC) told a briefing that just eight COVID-19 patients remained at the Vera Cruz hospital receiving treatment.

Some 374 people remain in 14-day quarantine at sites across the country.

Worldwide, the number of confirmed infections stood at 3.1 million, with more than 224,600 deaths and 957,000 recoveries, according to World Health Organisation figures.
