With just under four weeks to go until the 12 May vote, the Fretilin leader speaking to supporters in Aileu on Sunday, promised to improve education standards saying his party would be “action and not theory.”
“For 10 years (Xanana) lead the government but students are still sitting on the ground in schools,’’ said Alkatiri.
He highlighted economic opportunity disparity between city and regional populations, singling out poor road conditions as an impediment for people to trade and do business.
Meanwhile Xanana Gusmao, has urged supporters to stand by the Parliamentary Majority Alliance (AMP) party.
